A Guide to Effective Grading and Giving Feedback
Overview
What is a Rubric?
A rubric is a guide used by teachers to evaluate the quality of their students' work. It has become a popular means of communicating expectations for assessments in terms of criteria and standards, providing focused feedback to students on works in progress and grading their final product.
A rubric normally exists in the form of a matrix or grid in which marking criteria and their scaling/rating are organized in rows and columns respectively.
